Article "On Being Indian" Class Set
Video "Conflict"
Assignment: Today the we learned about the suffix -ify and reviewed how to use commas in compound sentences with conjunctions. The students will need to know these two things, plus the four vocabulary words (purify, arouse, pursuit, and shriveled) as well as the stories "Coyote Steals the Sun and Moon" and "The Spirit Chief Names the Animal People" for the test this Friday.
The students read an article called "On Being Indian" and took notes over the main ideas. They also answered the questions "What information surprised you?" and "What information did you already know?".
We discussed this article in class and added specific things from our discussion to our notes.
The students finished up class by watching the video "Conflict". They took notes on this as well for discussion in preparation for their Native American projects that we will begin on Friday.
ADAPT STUDENTS: Please check out the article "On Being Indian" from Mrs. Noonan and get notes from another classmate. Also, if you want to see the video "Conflict", which will help you with your Native American Project, set up a time to come in and watch it before or after school, or during study hall. Also, please do not forget to turn in your journal #8 on Friday when you come back from ADAPT.
