Assignment:
Today we will discuss the questions the students were assigned on Friday and finish up "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings".

We will look at the Robert Frost poem "The Road Not Taken" in small groups and work on paraphrasing. We will then look at the poem "The Choice". We will paraphrase in small groups and have a large group discussion about these two poems. The vocabulary words that the students will need to know are Speaker in a Poem and Paraphrase.

If there is time, we will begin studying common and proper nouns.

Assignment: Journal #3--DUE WED./THURS.
Write in your journals about why the meanings of the poem "The Road Not Taken" could be important to you in your life. Take into consideration the transition you will be making to the high school and what the poem specifically talks about--life choices.

This should be at least a half a page long.
